  One of the most picturesque locations, Tapovan is believed to be an important part of the epic Ramayana as it is believed that Laxman cut the nose of Shurpanakha at this place. A long stretch of woods, Godavari River and its tranquil ambience makes Tapovan a place worth visiting.

It is believed to be the place where Sita was kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. It is located at the western side door of Kalaram Temple.The cave has idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman.
